Students Share a Message about Caring for our Earth

Mother Earth showed her gratitude for Earth Day in the form of gorgeous weather! GCSD Pre-K and elementary students returned in kind by participating in nature projects and relishing time spent outdoors!

ECP students prepared a video for Earth Day entitled Take Care of Our Earth!  The class video showcased talent, spirit, and love for our planet. “Our class has been very busy being Earth heroes and movie stars!” said Ms. Phillips. “After lots of practice, smiles, and many, many giggles, we made a special celebration video for Earth Day.”

Elementary students at Highview honored the day by admiring the flower beds planted earlier this week through a program with the Greenburgh Nature Center. Afterward, they set out to have fun in the sunshine under clear blue skies during recess. “I love Earth Day!” said Samantha, a second grader.

RJB students kicked off the celebrations before the break by planting seedlings in the RJB Community Garden. In the next few weeks, they will transplant seedlings, have lessons on composting and vermiculture, and direct sow seeds after the last frost day. “Every day is Earth Day during the spring for us!” said Ms. Parker.
