Investing in the Future Through Community Tours of Capital Improvements in Greenburgh Schools

As we embark on the 2025-26 school year, we are thrilled that members of the Greenburgh community took the time to tour all five schools in the District. The tours were led by Dennis Pugliese, GCSD Director of Facilities & Operations, Board of Education Trustees, Facility Committee members, and Superintendent Dr. Lorenda Chisolm. Residents, parents, and students had the opportunity to see firsthand the extensive capital improvement projects completed in recent months. They also learned about the work that will continue throughout the 2025–2026 school year.

The projects showcased on the tour highlight the District’s ongoing commitment to safety, infrastructure, and energy performance, ensuring that Greenburgh schools remain secure, modern, and welcoming learning environments. Parents and residents were able to ask questions directly, fostering transparency and trust while strengthening the partnership between schools and the community.

“Each year, these pre-opening tours give community members a chance to see how our long-term goals come to life,” said Chris Valin, Vice President of the Greenburgh Central School District Board of Education. “They also provide a window into the essential—but often unseen—infrastructure that keeps our schools safe and running efficiently.”

Jake Morton, a Woodlands High School senior, reflected on the impact of walking through the newly completed front entrance vestibule. “This is such a nice addition to be able to experience as a senior at Woodlands,” he said. “It makes such a difference.”

“Today was a good day to walk through each building to see all the hard work that has been done, receive community feedback about our ongoing projects, while being transparent about the vision and commitment to creating safe, modern, and inspiring learning environments for all students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lorenda Chisolm.

These ongoing projects reflect a shared investment in the future of the Greenburgh CSD, ensuring that students, families, and staff can take pride in safe, efficient, and inspiring facilities for years to come. We look forward to welcoming students back next week. These enhancements will enrich their learning experience across the District - continuing our mission of Soaring Together.
